A WINDHOEK resident who allegedly failed to comply with a Police order to stop was shot dead in the city in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The man was shot dead between 00h00 and 02h00 yesterday, the Namibian Police’s Crime Investigation Coordinator in the Khomas Region, Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa, said on enquiry yesterday.Nghishidimbwa said the fatal shooting took place when the man, who was travelling in a car, failed to heed Police officers’ orders to stop his vehicle.The victim of the shooting was Matheus Shipanga (36), who was employed at the National Theatre of Namibia, relatives of Shipanga said yesterday. Shipanga was the father of two children and was set to marry his fiancée in April.The incident took place near the intersection of the city’s Otjomuise Road and the C28 road heading west out of Windhoek in the direction of Daan Viljoen Nature Reserve, Nghishidimbwa said.The shooting is being investigated by the Police’s internal investigation department, Nghishidimbwa said.
