Police offer rewards for information

THREE weeks after Windhoek taxi driver Isaskar Hango (38) was shot and killed by a patron at the intersection of the Daan Viljoen and Otjomuise roads, Police still have had no luck in finding his killer.

The Police are now offering a reward of N$10 000 to anyone who can provide them with information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect. On Wednesday February 7, just before 18h00, Hango had approached the intersection from the direction of Otjomuise with one passenger seated directly behind him.Witnesses at the scene said after stopping at the intersection, Hango’s Toyota Corolla suddenly jerked forward, smashing into an oncoming VW combi that had been travelling from the direction of Daan Viljoen. The passenger in the taxi then jumped out of the vehicle and disappeared into the nearby bushes, said the driver of the combi, Peter Andraschko. When he went to check on the driver, Andraschko said the man was dead, with a bullet wound in his head.It appeared he had been robbed as well.Police who arrived at the scene shortly afterwards combed the surrounding area, but no trace was found of the killer.Police have also reached a dead end in their investigation of a murder which took place in a Windhoek riverbed on February 4.The body of 44-year-old Johannes Samuel was found in a riverbed in Okuryangava, close to his home.Police are offering a further N$10 000 for any information that could help in this investigation.Any information can be forwarded to Detective Chief Inspector Michael Unandapo at (061) 209 4302 or 081 124 0521.On Wednesday February 7, just before 18h00, Hango had approached the intersection from the direction of Otjomuise with one passenger seated directly behind him.Witnesses at the scene said after stopping at the intersection, Hango’s Toyota Corolla suddenly jerked forward, smashing into an oncoming VW combi that had been travelling from the direction of Daan Viljoen. The passenger in the taxi then jumped out of the vehicle and disappeared into the nearby bushes, said the driver of the combi, Peter Andraschko. When he went to check on the driver, Andraschko said the man was dead, with a bullet wound in his head.It appeared he had been robbed as well.Police who arrived at the scene shortly afterwards combed the surrounding area, but no trace was found of the killer.Police have also reached a dead end in their investigation of a murder which took place in a Windhoek riverbed on February 4.The body of 44-year-old Johannes Samuel was found in a riverbed in Okuryangava, close to his home.Police are offering a further N$10 000 for any information that could help in this investigation.Any information can be forwarded to Detective Chief Inspector Michael Unandapo at (061) 209 4302 or 081 124 0521.
