Police car attacked with pangas

THREE men ended up in hospital with several bullet wounds after they allegedly attacked an unmarked Police car with pangas in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 17h00 on Tuesday, while two plainclothes officers were patrolling the open space along Hendrik Witbooi Avenue between the University of Namibia (Unam) and Pionierspark. The three suspects allegedly broke the front windows of the Police car before the officers called for reinforcements and opened fire on the suspects. One of the suspects was shot in the buttocks and back; the second was wounded in the leg, arm and back.The third suspect was injured during a scuffle with the Police but was not shot.Police say criminals have been terrorising Unam students and residents walking along Hendrik Witbooi Avenue.
