Police And Suspects

Police And Suspects

PLEASE allow me space in your newspaper to ask this question, because such things are happening.

I want to know where are suspects are supposed to be interrogated – is it at the same police stations where the charges are laid or should they be taken into bushes or other (not related to the police) rooms? My brother was accused of having wanted to grab somebody into whom he accidentally just bumped in our busy town on August 31 2004 while coming from his daily classes, and this man decided that he wanted to take his mobile phone despite the fact that he apologised. In no time the police/SFF were there and he was in their custody.I was phoned and informed that he was taken to the police station when they were called on radio several times but kept saying that they were on the way.I spent almost two and a half hours waiting for them to arrive with my brother. To my disappointment they never turned up with him.Instead they drove with him towards Brakwater for interrogation purposes. When they were satisfied they dropped him off in Katutura and told him to go home, but in the mean time I was concerned about his safety because I know what the police/SFF can do to you.Now my concern is why Brakwater or any other place and not the police station? Would the fact that they take people so far not encourage them to use violence because there is no one to stop them, or is that the idea? As for the police/SFF thank you for not really hurting him and for actually seeing that the accusation had no merit. To the man who was accidentally bumped, God does not sleep.Nadia Ihuhua WindhoekIn no time the police/SFF were there and he was in their custody.I was phoned and informed that he was taken to the police station when they were called on radio several times but kept saying that they were on the way.I spent almost two and a half hours waiting for them to arrive with my brother.
