LONDON – President Hifikepunye Pohamba arrived in London yesterday morning to attend the two-day Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) Africa Business Forum set to start today.
Pohamba will officially open the forum in his capacity as chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).He was received at the Heathrow Airport by Minister of Trade and Industry, Hage Geingob, and Namibia’s High commissioner to the UK, George Liswaniso.This year’s Forum will address the central theme, ‘SADC: Regional Integration and Drivers of Growth’.Regional integration creates bigger markets, which in turn help attract greater interest from international investors and enhances trade.The forum will focus on practical ways of helping increase the pace of integration while examining actual projects that help drive growth.The gathering will discuss how business and government can best design a sustainable growth strategy for Africa in the new global economic environment.It will also focus on the practical partnerships that businesses are taking on job creation, enterprise, trade, investment and good governance across the continent, and discuss how they can strengthen capital flows and trade. – Nampa
