PRIME MINISTER Nahas Angula has taken issue with the headline of a report in The Namibian of Wednesday, February 21, in which he was quoted.
The headline read ‘Govt supports Herero reparation demands’. The relevant passage in the Prime Minister’s speech on which the headline was based was: “Any Namibian who feels wronged has a right to seek justice.The question of reparation should be understood from such perspective.In my view the demand for reparations should be a long-term objective.”Angula was speaking at the fourth Summit of Ovaherero-Ovambanderu Council for Dialogue on 1904 Genocide at Okakarara on February 17.The relevant passage in the Prime Minister’s speech on which the headline was based was: “Any Namibian who feels wronged has a right to seek justice.The question of reparation should be understood from such perspective.In my view the demand for reparations should be a long-term objective.”Angula was speaking at the fourth Summit of Ovaherero-Ovambanderu Council for Dialogue on 1904 Genocide at Okakarara on February 17.
