NAMIBIAN international defender Sidney Plaatjies is likely to sign a contract with Absa Premiership strugglers Mpumalanga Black Aces soon.
The clubless Plaatjies, who plied his trade with local premiership team Blue Waters before he moved to South Africa to join Mamelodi Sundowns in that country’s top-flight league, has become redundant at the Tswane-based side.
KickOff website reports the no-nonsense defender seemed to have make a positive impression on coach Savvas Agiomamitis during trials recently.KickOff said the leftback is trying out at Aces after Mamelodi Sundowns terminated his contract last November having not registered him for this season – this after his loan spell with Moroka Swallows in the second half of the 2008/09 season was not made permanent.Plaatjies has featured for Amazayoni in recent friendly matches, including the one against Moroka Swallows in Germiston on Wednesday.’Sidney has impressed since he began trials with us. He is a good defender and a highly experienced player. A decision will be made soon on whether we offer him a contract but I have been impressed,’ Agiomamitis told KickOff.com. – Nampa
