RAMBLERS official Peter van Wyk will stand for the elective annual general meeting of the Namibia Premier League to be held at Soccer House on Saturday.
The meeting starts at 10h00. The previous election, held on September 16 as per the International Federation of Football Association’s (Fifa) road map, was declared null and void by the NFA Independent Election Commission (IEC) because two teams voted which had been relegated last season.Anton van Wyk was re-elected as chairman at the nullified election.Pieter van Wyk, who lost to Anton van Wyk at the September 16 elections, said he would once again stand for election.Asked about his chances to win the next election, Pieter van Wyk said a lot of lobbying had taken place, but his success depended on the individual clubs.”Based on the last elections I think my chances are 50/50,” he said.”My first priority is to turn the NPL into a professional outfit and to have accountable officials representing the clubs as it is our goal and objective to be professionals.”Secondly, Pieter van Wyk said that he wants to strengthen the relationship between the NPL and the NFA.He also wants to engage the NFA and the Namibia Football Consortium (NFC) for the NPL to have its own sponsor or to look at ways how best the NPL can benefit, since it does not have any say in NFC affairs.According to Pieter van Wyk, only the 12 clubs to play the 2006/2007 football season will be eligible to vote.Attempts to get comment from Anton van Wyk proved futile.NampaThe previous election, held on September 16 as per the International Federation of Football Association’s (Fifa) road map, was declared null and void by the NFA Independent Election Commission (IEC) because two teams voted which had been relegated last season.Anton van Wyk was re-elected as chairman at the nullified election.Pieter van Wyk, who lost to Anton van Wyk at the September 16 elections, said he would once again stand for election.Asked about his chances to win the next election, Pieter van Wyk said a lot of lobbying had taken place, but his success depended on the individual clubs.”Based on the last elections I think my chances are 50/50,” he said.”My first priority is to turn the NPL into a professional outfit and to have accountable officials representing the clubs as it is our goal and objective to be professionals.”Secondly, Pieter van Wyk said that he wants to strengthen the relationship between the NPL and the NFA.He also wants to engage the NFA and the Namibia Football Consortium (NFC) for the NPL to have its own sponsor or to look at ways how best the NPL can benefit, since it does not have any say in NFC affairs.According to Pieter van Wyk, only the 12 clubs to play the 2006/2007 football season will be eligible to vote.Attempts to get comment from Anton van Wyk proved futile.Nampa
