Parties proliferate

THE Electoral Commission of Namibia is set to consider the application of another new political party.

Director of Elections Phillemon Kanime told The Namibian they were satisfied that the Namibia Democratic Movement for Change (NDMC) had met all the criteria to register. The NDMC applied in December for registration and Kanime responded that their application would be considered at the next meeting of the Electoral Commission of Namibia.NDMC President Frans /Goagoseb said they had already been approached by the DTA-UDF Coalition and the newly registered NUDO about possible co-operation./Goagoseb said their support come from the rural masses in mainly the eastern parts of Namibia.Calling themselves ‘the real opposition party for Namibia’, /Goagoseb’s party claims that they will campaign for a 50 per cent representation of women at all levels of government and State-owned enterprises.They also want to campaign against corruption farms for the elite and push for the resettlement of the poor./Goagoseb is a former DTA Councillor in the National Councillor.He was recently inaugurated as the headman of the /Gobanin Damara people.The NDMC applied in December for registration and Kanime responded that their application would be considered at the next meeting of the Electoral Commission of Namibia.
