Parliament delayed to honour Geingob

Parliament’s first sitting has been postponed one day to 5 February, in part due to the first anniversary of former president Hage Geingob’s death. Geingob died on 4 February 2024 after a cancer diagnosis.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support,” parliamentary senior spokesperson Sacky Kadhikwa says.

Kadhikwa says, despite the delay, parliament does not have specific events planned on the day.

The late president’s biography, “Whispers of Freedom”, will be launched on Thursday 6 February.
