Parents held for child’s death

POLICE at Oshakati have arrested three members of a family from Kandjengedi village near Ongwediva in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Josef Anghuwo told The Namibian that Lonia Ndeshipanda Shatumbu was found dead in her parents’ house last Thursday. The girl was allegedly beaten to death by her father, Angula Shatumbu (50), his wife, Charlotte Shatumbu (46), and their son, Luther Negumbo Shatumbu (21).The three appeared on a charge of murder in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.The case was postponed to November 28.The three were not granted bail.Lonia Shatumbu was a Grade 5 pupil at Kandjengedi Primary School.She was buried at Ohalushu in the Ohangwena Region on Wednesday.The girl was allegedly beaten to death by her father, Angula Shatumbu (50), his wife, Charlotte Shatumbu (46), and their son, Luther Negumbo Shatumbu (21).The three appeared on a charge of murder in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.The case was postponed to November 28.The three were not granted bail.Lonia Shatumbu was a Grade 5 pupil at Kandjengedi Primary School.She was buried at Ohalushu in the Ohangwena Region on Wednesday.
