Albert Einstein once said only a life lived for others is a life worth living.
Honourable vice president, you have lived your life for others and you continue living for others.
Your life thus far encapsulates an important and intergral chapter in the history of Namibia and Africa. Rising through the ranks until you become the vice president of the ruling party and the vice president of Namibia is not simple.
If there is one golden thread that summarise your life thus far, it is your clean name and your selfless public service to the Namibian nation.
You have navigated many insurmountable challenges before you were successfully registered as Swapo’s sole presidential candidate in the November 2024 elections.
And now you are on your way to State House to become Namibia’s fifth president and its first woman president.
What a big achievement! I have learnt that you joined youth politics at the age of 15 and you were first elected to Swapo’s central committee in 1976 at the age of 24.
Now I understand why you believe in young people, and I would like to applaud your readiness to bring in the likes of Fenny Tutjavi (22).
You indeed understand the power of investing in young minds.
You are well known for transparency, and have a clean name untainted by corruption.
As a youth activist aged 28, I have no doubt that you will lead this great nation to the land of milk and honey. You are the truest definition of the Namibian character – ‘one Namibia, one nation’.
Under your leadership, matters are discussed and decisions are made in a friendly and understanding atmosphere, and at the same, time sober and direct.
Your journey has been full of empowerment, such as your work at the environment ministry and your work on gender equality.
It is my firm belief that Namibia can become a modern, high-income country under your leadership.
Honourable vice president, here is my humble appeal to you once you are elected to the highest office of the land:
Appoint your new administration based on merit, character, ethics, humility, compassion, qualification and empathy.
Make Kaire Mbuende or Peya Mushelenga the vice president of Namibia.
Minister of health ahould be Bernard Haufiku, deputised by Esther Muinjangue, with minister of youth being Emma Kantema-Gaomas or Willem Amutenya.
Elijah Ngurare should be the agriculture minister, and Alpfeus Naruseb, deputised by Bernadus Swartbooi, the minister of land.
Lucia Iipumbu, Emma Theofelus and Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila should retain their positions.
Establish a Namibia think tank and include the following citizens: Calle Schlettwein, John Mutorwa, JB Tjivikua, Isak Fredericks, Moses Amweelo, Nahas Angula, Anicia Peters, Joseph Diescho, Lukas Katenda, Tuliameni Kalomoh, Panduleni Itula, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi, Marius Kudumo, Rui Tyitende, Ndumba Kamwanyah, André du Pisani, Josef Sheehama and Job Amupanda.
The Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Cup should include football, rugby, volleyball, netball and boxing. It will unite all Namibians.
Lastly, I would like you to include Patience Masua and myself in the eight people you will appoint.
At least four should be young people and four should be stalwarts, such as Hilma Nikanor, Loide Kasingo, Mbuende Kaire and Haufiku
Tomorrow will not just happen – it must be designed, and now is the right time.
