Ongwediva fair develops into business promotion initiative

ONGWEDIVA – The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) has developed into a prominent venue and platform for smart partnership initiative, says Ongwediva Mayor Erastus Uutoni.

Speaking at the official opening of the OATF 2005 on Monday, Uutoni said the fair had also developed into an indispensable vehicle for national, regional and global trade promotion. Uutoni said the OATF came at the right time when the Ongwediva town council had reaffirmed its commitment to leading the town on the path of good governance, prosperity and socio-economic development and growth.Uutoni believes the OATF serves as a unique medium with unique possibilities and it strengthens the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and exposes them.He said the fair also invites potential investors and promotes manufacturing ventures.”There is an urgent need in our country to address the plight of SMEs and, as such, the challenge is right here for us to meaningful explore ways and means, through the upcoming trade fair, to strengthen the economy,” Uutoni noted. He pointed out that there is no difference between local business agenda and the global agenda, as the whole purpose was to promote sustainable business development. Therefore, Uutoni urged businessmen and women countrywide not to ignore globalisation but to learn to think locally and act globally. He used the same platform to announce that his council, in conjunction with the Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCC), is committed to establishing a business information centre at Ongwediva to enable local businesspersons to find information. The centre will provide information on how to obtain financial support from the financial institutions and training on how to run a business.Commending those who have contributed to the successful organisations of the OATF 2005, Uutoni assured the nation that the future of the Ongwediva fair is bright. The OATF 2005 ends on Saturday.-NampaUutoni said the OATF came at the right time when the Ongwediva town council had reaffirmed its commitment to leading the town on the path of good governance, prosperity and socio-economic development and growth.Uutoni believes the OATF serves as a unique medium with unique possibilities and it strengthens the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and exposes them.He said the fair also invites potential investors and promotes manufacturing ventures.”There is an urgent need in our country to address the plight of SMEs and, as such, the challenge is right here for us to meaningful explore ways and means, through the upcoming trade fair, to strengthen the economy,” Uutoni noted. The OATF 2005 ends on Saturday.-Nampa
