Ongwediva businessman dies of stroke in the bank

A WELL known business man John Andjamba Shikongo, who is also also a former chairman of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Northern Branch died instantly after a stroke in the Bank of Windhoek Branch at Ongwediva on week Wednesday afternoon.

Some people who were with him in the bank queuing for service told The Namibian that the late Shikongo, who was a sub-contractor on the road construction work in the Kunene Region, asked for his business bank statement. Apparently the teller gave it to him, but when he asked the teller whether his main contractor paid money into the account, the teller said no, and Shikongo apparently collapsed on the spot. The bank manager called the ambulance which arrived with a doctor. The doctor declared Shikongo dead at the scene. It seems that he late Shikongo was under pressure from his workers at the construction site, as they were apparently demanding their payments last week.Shikongo will be buried on Saturday at Oshikuku from the Oshikuku Roman Catholic Church.
