PLEASE allow me a bit of space in your reputable daily to air my views regarding the Ministry of Works’ annual tenders.
With this mail I would very much like to express my profound sorrow pertaining to tender allocation and the execution thereof in this country. As a construction manager and contractor, I feel the current system used by the said department leaves a lot to be desired.I’m flabbergasted that the annual tenders are out while the previous tenders are not even awarded to the successful contractors.About 700 contractors tendered for the annual tenders last year and I enquired this year in January and April, only to be told that officials are still busy sorting them out, yet today I’m holding the same documents. The question that begs for answers is what happened to last year’s tenders? Are they forfeited? Our N$200 is gone just like that.Tenderers are supposed to be notified through the post about the progress.Ch’mbunduh OshakatiAs a construction manager and contractor, I feel the current system used by the said department leaves a lot to be desired.I’m flabbergasted that the annual tenders are out while the previous tenders are not even awarded to the successful contractors.About 700 contractors tendered for the annual tenders last year and I enquired this year in January and April, only to be told that officials are still busy sorting them out, yet today I’m holding the same documents. The question that begs for answers is what happened to last year’s tenders?
