IT would be appreciated if you allow me to raise my concerns about the above-mentioned issue in your good newspaper.
Not long ago the issue regarding the mine that was given to Namibia by the late President of DRC Laurent Kabila was debated in the National Assembly. This happened after the report that appeared in the local newspaper, which revealed that there is a diamond mine which has been owned by the Namibian Government since 1999.The newspapers further revealed that such diamond mine is situated in Mayi Munene near the town of Tshikapa in the southern part of DRC.The army generals reportedly controlled the diamond mine through the company called August 26.Now I want to know how this diamond mine operates? How many Namibians are employed there? Who are the beneficiaries – is it really the Namibian Government, the Namibian nation or is it the former President? The reason we ask if the former President got benefits from the diamond mine is because there was speculation that he owns that mine and this can lead to the accusation that the former President was driven into the DRC war by his personal interest.Ananias Kaseven Aipinge WindhoekThis happened after the report that appeared in the local newspaper, which revealed that there is a diamond mine which has been owned by the Namibian Government since 1999.The newspapers further revealed that such diamond mine is situated in Mayi Munene near the town of Tshikapa in the southern part of DRC.The army generals reportedly controlled the diamond mine through the company called August 26.Now I want to know how this diamond mine operates?
