Omaruru Spar has decided to spice up the fourth running of their Cycle Road Race which will take place on Sunday, February 17.
Resident and top Namibian road cyclist, Dan Craven will host a training weekend for BEN (Bicycle Empowerment Network) cyclists leading up to the event. Thanks to the financial backing from Spar, as well as accommodation from the Omaruru Rest Camp, the weekend will give a group of development riders the chance to race under Craven’s wing.Classes will be given throughout the weekend about important elements of cycling such as training, tactics, stretching and diet.Several junior riders will also join the training group; however they will have to finance part of the trip themselves. Thanks to there being no entry fee for the event, costs will be greatly reduced. For more information on the 20, 60 and 100km races, which start at 09h00, can be obtained from Bobby Griebel at 0811281718 or Dan Craven at 081 2330224Thanks to the financial backing from Spar, as well as accommodation from the Omaruru Rest Camp, the weekend will give a group of development riders the chance to race under Craven’s wing.Classes will be given throughout the weekend about important elements of cycling such as training, tactics, stretching and diet.Several junior riders will also join the training group; however they will have to finance part of the trip themselves. Thanks to there being no entry fee for the event, costs will be greatly reduced. For more information on the 20, 60 and 100km races, which start at 09h00, can be obtained from Bobby Griebel at 0811281718 or Dan Craven at 081 2330224
