The Old Mutual Foundation will facilitate discussions aimed at fighting against youth unemployment, with the inaugural Old Mutual Foundation Indaba scheduled for 25 October.
This one-day event is poised to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Namibia by providing actionable solutions, insightful discussions, and skill development opportunities to the country’s young professionals.
The theme for this groundbreaking event is ‘Spilling the Tea on Youth Unemployment’, a fitting choice that reflects the conference’s objective of engaging and empowering Namibia’s Millennials and Gen-Z.
By equipping them with essential knowledge, skills and resources, the event aims to help them navigate financial challenges, advance their careers and explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
Mignon du Preez, Old Mutual’s public affairs, and sustainability executive said the event will create a vital platform for open dialogue, innovative solutions and networking.
“The 2023 Old Mutual Foundation Indaba is not just an event, it’s a commitment to the future of Namibia’s youth.
Our aim is to facilitate meaningful dialogue, raise awareness about the complexities of youth unemployment, and provide practical solutions.
We believe that by empowering young professionals, we can create a brighter future for our nation,” Du Preez said.
The conference’s line-up of events includes a panel discussion, career skills training and public speaking coaching – all culminating in a comedy and poetry event. Admission to all events is free and tickets can be obtained through web tickets.
In addition to its programme, the event offers unique opportunities for vendors.
Ten free stalls are up for grabs, providing vendors with a platform to showcase their products or services.
The selection process will be managed by the Old Mutual Foundation team, with eligibility criteria specifying that vendors must be between 18 to 35 years old, have a registered business and offer a product or service.
