OKAKARARA will in September host its first trade fair in a bid to boost the economic base of the Otjozondjupa Region.
The Okakarara Trade Fair Society (OTFS) – which was set up last year – held its stakeholders’ meeting in Windhoek last week to announce the upcoming event. “It’s a fact that the economic base of Okakarara town and its surrounding settlement areas are mainly based on small and medium enterprises and the agricultural sector, thus the OTFS will greatly enhance business opportunities for local entrepreneurs to get better marketing opportunities for their products and services,” said Vetaruhe Kandorozu, regional councillor of Okakarara constituency. The meeting was held to see how businesspeople and other stakeholders could make the upcoming Okakarara trade fair a success.Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Bernhard Esau welcomed the initiative, saying it was in tandem with Government’s objectives to boost economic growth and employment. He said his ministry had various economic support programmes targeted at entrepreneurs, adding that people should take advantage of these schemes.Esau also said the Ministry of Trade and Industry was always ready to facilitate local companies’ participation in trade fairs and exhibitions in and outside the country.”This ministry has a primary role to spearhead trade and industrial development in the country through the establishment of appropriate instruments and mechanisms that enable trade and industrial activities to flourish,” said Esau.Kandorozu said key stakeholders had shown commitment and willingness to see the trade fair become a reality.”It’s a fact that the economic base of Okakarara town and its surrounding settlement areas are mainly based on small and medium enterprises and the agricultural sector, thus the OTFS will greatly enhance business opportunities for local entrepreneurs to get better marketing opportunities for their products and services,” said Vetaruhe Kandorozu, regional councillor of Okakarara constituency. He said his ministry had various economic support programmes targeted at entrepreneurs, adding that people should take advantage of these schemes.Esau also said the Ministry of Trade and Industry was always ready to facilitate local companies’ participation in trade fairs and exhibitions in and outside the country.”This ministry has a primary role to spearhead trade and industrial development in the country through the establishment of appropriate instruments and mechanisms that enable trade and industrial activities to flourish,” said Esau.Kandorozu said key stakeholders had shown commitment and willingness to see the trade fair become a reality.
