THE Police at Okahandja have launched a manhunt for an alleged thief who has seemingly vanished since the start of the year.
Nestor Kamati (26) disappeared in January this year while free on bail of N$3 000.Kamati and his six co-accused were arrested at the garden town last year after they allegedly broke into a gambling house and absconded with jackpot machines containing cash. The total value of the loot amounts to close to N$260 000, Warrant Officer Reinhardt Maletzky from the Okahandja Police said yesterday.All six accused were released on bail of N$3 000 after their arrest. Kamati however did not show up for their court appearance in January this year and has been on the run ever since then.A warrant of arrest was issued against him on January 17.Kamati is a Namibian citizen, speaks Oshiwambo and hails from the Vyfrand township outside Okahandja.Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu, the Police spokesperson, requested Nestor Kamati himself or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact Maletzky at 062 – 503 013 or on 081 272 4527.The housebreaking with intent to steal and theft case was postponed until Wednesday, July 13 this year, for the Police to try and trace Kamati.
