Okahandja Beauties thrash Ramblers

Okahandja Beauties extended their lead at the top of the Khomas Women’s Football log when they thrashed Ramblers 7-1 in their second round encounter on Saturday.

Beauties had won their first round encounter 4-1 and any hopes Ramblers might have had of toppling the log leaders were quickly dispelled as Beauties gave a commanding performance from the start. Beauties were already leading 3-0 at halftime and with Emma Awises, Stella Williams, Mary Jacobs and Shirley Cloete in fine form, their relentless attacks continued unabated after the break.Especially Jacobs was a thorn in Ramblers’ defence, as she created numerous chances with her strong runs down the right wing.Awises was also a handful in attack and opened the scoring with two goals, while a fine long-range shot by Stella Williams gave them a 3-0 lead at halftime.Awises completed her hat-trick shortly after the break, when she volleyed in a cross by Jacobs, after another fine attack down the wing.Ramblers opened their account through a fine shot by Angelica Visagie, but any hopes of a revival were quickly dispelled by Beauties.First keeper Bonitha Eixas saved well from a Ramblers striker and then Shirley Cloete put them 5-1 ahead with a great freekick that went high into the net.Another strong run by Jacobs down the wing found Salome Iyambo unmarked at the far post and although Ramblers keeper Bianca Ndjaou did well to block her initial shot, Iyambo put the rebound into the net.Stella Williams gave Ramblers defenders Queen Manga and Stephanie Hummel a tough time with her strong runs into the box and Manga went down injured in one encounter with Williams.Just before fulltime Williams broke free of Hummel to head a centre into the net.In another match on Saturday, NDF Cheetahs caused an upset when they beat second-placed Rehoboth Queens 4-2 in Rehoboth.Match Breakdown: Okahandja Beauties 7 Ramblers 1 Halftime: 3-0 Beauties: Emma Awises 15′, 23′, 33′ Stella Williams 29′, 60′ Shirley Cloete 51′ Salome Iyambo 53′ Ramblers: Angelica Visagie 44’Beauties were already leading 3-0 at halftime and with Emma Awises, Stella Williams, Mary Jacobs and Shirley Cloete in fine form, their relentless attacks continued unabated after the break.Especially Jacobs was a thorn in Ramblers’ defence, as she created numerous chances with her strong runs down the right wing.Awises was also a handful in attack and opened the scoring with two goals, while a fine long-range shot by Stella Williams gave them a 3-0 lead at halftime.Awises completed her hat-trick shortly after the break, when she volleyed in a cross by Jacobs, after another fine attack down the wing.Ramblers opened their account through a fine shot by Angelica Visagie, but any hopes of a revival were quickly dispelled by Beauties.First keeper Bonitha Eixas saved well from a Ramblers striker and then Shirley Cloete put them 5-1 ahead with a great freekick that went high into the net.Another strong run by Jacobs down the wing found Salome Iyambo unmarked at the far post and although Ramblers keeper Bianca Ndjaou did well to block her initial shot, Iyambo put the rebound into the net.Stella Williams gave Ramblers defenders Queen Manga and Stephanie Hummel a tough time with her strong runs into the box and Manga went down injured in one encounter with Williams.Just before fulltime Williams broke free of Hummel to head a centre into the net.In another match on Saturday, NDF Cheetahs caused an upset when they beat second-placed Rehoboth Queens 4-2 in Rehoboth.Match Breakdown: Okahandja Beauties 7 Ramblers 1 Halftime: 3-0 Beauties: Emma Awises 15′, 23′, 33′ Stella Williams 29′, 60′ Shirley Cloete 51′ Salome Iyambo 53′ Ramblers: Angelica Visagie 44′
