NPC clerk charged with corruption

TWO women, one a record clerk at the National Planning Commission and the other her child minder, appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with using public office for gratification.

Ndinelao Hamufungu (34) allegedly created fictitious payments on the system by establishing fake suppliers and issuing cheques worth more than N$18 000 to the ‘supplier’.The ‘supplier’ reportedly turned out to be Elise Ndinomholo Kandjala – Hamufungu’s cousin who looks after her two children.Both were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission.ACC Director Paulus Noa said Hamufungu issued two cheques (N$6 374.04 and N$12 000) to EN Kandjala.Their case was postponed to April 20 and they were both granted bail of N$4 000.
