Not All Bad At Air Namibia

IN response to the disgruntled Air Namibia employee.
On reading your text message to the newspaper, I knew immediately that you had failed to take the wellbeing of Air Namibia as a company into account. I am also an employee of Air Namibia but I acknowledge the salary structure change as being beneficial to the company in the long run.

Air Namibia is, by no stretch of the imagination, a small airline and I think its obvious that too many people are being paid to do a little work. The salary of most people was not even drastically altered and it was merely the basic salary which became a lower figure and we were re-compensated within a new definition. People are not thinking in the long-term that the airline needs to be financially stable in order to pay salaries in the first place, so there should be a lot less complaining. Bankruptcy for our national airline is certainly not good news for anyone.I seriously hope Air Namibia will look into a large-scale restructuring as our efficiency is increasingly under question. I believe it would be better to pay less people a higher wage to get the job done properly rather than a lot of people who do similar tasks. Our workforce is unnecessarily bulky and this must detract from our annual revenue and sends us back to the Government every time the Budget is compiled. A major restructuring on a qualifications basis rather than employment length would be highly beneficial to the Airline. And as to the writer claiming that our acting MD is not performing, they are gravely mistaken as she is certainly doing her best to make sure all areas of the company are fully functional. I rather call on the government to make a decision soon because as a confirmed MD one’s powers are more definite and this helps in decision making.Knowing that you are being granted a term to see any changes through is certainly a confidence booster. I applaud any future bold decisions Ms Namases may take and I hope for ever increasing success.I also call on all citizens to further support the airline as much as possible for the benefit of the entire Namibian nation.Appreciative EmployeeVia e-mail
