THE attention of the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Namibia has been drawn to a news report published on page 3 of the 27 September 2005 edition of your newspaper titled ‘Mines and Energy official in court on extortion charges’.
The report erroneously referred to one Mr Olatunji O Babalola as a Nigerian, but a record check revealed that the individual was naturalised into a Namibian citizen. He actually obtained a visiting visa No 57/02 dated 30 October 2002 to Nigeria with his Namibian passport No P0002246.The purpose of this rejoinder is to set the record straight and perhaps inform that the High Commission’s offices are open to any inquiries and clarifications on such matters to avoid misrepresentation of facts.T O Akinbo For: High Commissioner Nigeria High CommissionHe actually obtained a visiting visa No 57/02 dated 30 October 2002 to Nigeria with his Namibian passport No P0002246.The purpose of this rejoinder is to set the record straight and perhaps inform that the High Commission’s offices are open to any inquiries and clarifications on such matters to avoid misrepresentation of facts.T O Akinbo For: High Commissioner Nigeria High Commission
