No water at Aroab

A BREAKDOWN at the NamWater pump station left thousands of Aroab villagers without water for a whole day.

The village water is pumped from boreholes to a NamWater reservoir, from where the villagers are supplied. A villager, Landi Titus, yesterday told The Namibian that residents had to cope without water from Wednesday morning until yesterday morning.According to Titus, some people survived on water they collected from the State hostel’s storage tanks.”We were not warned in advance about the water shortage, we were only told on Wednesday that the Namwater reservoir was empty,” she said.A NamWater manager based at Keetmanshoop referred The Namibian to the company’s public relations officer in Windhoek, but attempts to get comment from him proved futile.A villager, Landi Titus, yesterday told The Namibian that residents had to cope without water from Wednesday morning until yesterday morning.According to Titus, some people survived on water they collected from the State hostel’s storage tanks.”We were not warned in advance about the water shortage, we were only told on Wednesday that the Namwater reservoir was empty,” she said.A NamWater manager based at Keetmanshoop referred The Namibian to the company’s public relations officer in Windhoek, but attempts to get comment from him proved futile.
