No To Politics Of Denial

FIRST I would like to pay tributes to our heroes and heroines who sacrificed their precious lives so that we are free and independent today. Equally, I would like to thank the Namibian people for having jealously guarded our peace and stability for the past 20 years.

We must keep it up! Now it is time for hard work in order to capture our vision 2030 as well as to address all social challenges that face our nation such as unemployment, poverty, gender violence, and so on. I am strongly optimistic that as a nation and a people we are capable of overcoming all social ills in our country provided that we work together for the common good of our people, specifically the poor, the sick, the elders and the vulnerable members of our society. The time is now to put our personal and political differences aside and embrace the spirit of one Namibia One Nation. It is only through this spirit that we can achieve a lot as a nation. As citizens of this country, we must cease destructive criticism against our Government and rally behind it as it strives to achieve economic independence of all our citizens. It is not fair to say that our Government has done nothing for the past 20 years. This is what I usually refer to as politics of denial. I would also like to congratulate our President Hifikepunye Pohamba for being sworn in for the second time as the president of our country and for declaring to be a president for all as usual and to fight against corruption tooth and nail. Similarly, I would like to wish him good health and wisdom from God as he leads our nation to greater heights. I am convinced that our President has assembled a winning team who will work with him in the quest for economic freedom. When l look at the ministers and deputy ministers recently appointed, I see the combination of technocrats, doers, unifiers, and experienced politicians. The dust around who should occupy what position is settled now and we must work hard. Salomo M NambingaVia e-mail
