IF we involve politics in everything
we will never succeed.
Let’s leave
politics to the politicians and face
the facts.
Sports administrators should know
that they are administrators and not
politicians. Some people complain
about the scarcity of some tribes
in our national sports teams or
the scarcity of black players in
rugby and cricket, while others
are concerned about the scarcity
of whites in soccer.
Do these complaints really help
our country? No! In rugby we have
a strong, formidable team, which
is second to the world champions
South Africa in Africa, and we
shouldn’t change it simply to
accommodate other race groups.
People should not be selected on
the basis of the colour of their skin
or on the basis of which tribe they
come. When team Namibia wins,
not only one race or one tribe wins,
we all win as Namibians. The same
applies to all sports codes, whether
it’s rugby, cricket, soccer, basketball
or any other. Let’s give those
who are selected the support they
deserve, because at the end of the
day, the win is for our country, not
individuals.
