No’ To New Names For Towns

PLEASE allow me a space in your newspaper on my thoughts about the renaming of the country’s towns.I fail to get the point.

I thought so deeply about this and ended up with zero idea as to why such a plan has been proposed. It is too late for the country to rename the places, especially towns or cities.Dear Members of Parliament, I believe this is not something we anticipated you would do after attaining your seats in the National Assembly. We voted for you to work for the development of our country. We really want many changes to occur in all sectors. My question is: What could the renaming of Namibian towns bring to the country? We are used to the names which are already known internationally. This issue involves a lot of money, which should be budgeted for something other than this.I do not think the renaming of the towns will bring a good result, but bad results on both economic and tourism grounds. If this money was rather used to build more schools, hospitals, universities, technical institutions, sports complexes; and fund scholarships and bursaries, fighting against HIV/AIDS and in solving many more public needs, I would appreciate it more.Ithete ya Hango Via e-mailIt is too late for the country to rename the places, especially towns or cities.Dear Members of Parliament, I believe this is not something we anticipated you would do after attaining your seats in the National Assembly. We voted for you to work for the development of our country. We really want many changes to occur in all sectors. My question is: What could the renaming of Namibian towns bring to the country?
