SWAKOPMUND – The owner of the State House Bar at the coast has been asked to change the name of his bar.
The Liquor Licence Board in the Erongo Region yesterday approved Sylvester Mutilifa’s application on condition that he changes the name to House Bar or something else. Magistrate Gaynor Poulton wanted to know why Mutilifa chose the name ‘State House’.Simple, said Mutilifa. He wanted to have a different name from other bars.Poulton told him the name State House was not proper, as people needed to show respect towards the Head of State.”Your application is approved on condition that you apply for the name of the bar to be changed,” she said.Another liquor licence application was cancelled, when the board realised that the owner Julius Hefingo was not the person standing in front of them at yesterday’s sitting. This was after the person present could not provide his identification document and could not remember how old he was or his date of birth. The man then admitted that he was in fact not the applicant but Hefingo’s brother. He was given a warning before his application was removed from the roll.He was told to tell Hefingo to re-apply.NampaMagistrate Gaynor Poulton wanted to know why Mutilifa chose the name ‘State House’.Simple, said Mutilifa. He was given a warning before his application was removed from the roll.He was told to tell Hefingo to re-apply.Nampa
