No ‘Posters For All’

No ‘Posters For All’

THE 2009 election is not fair. It seems as if the ruling party breaks all rules and regulations during the election campaign.

When we apply to put up posters for the coming election we received a list of streets where it is not allowed to put up any election material e.g. in Robert Mugabe, Sam Nujoma and ten other streets. From the beginning Swapo party ignored this regulation by putting up posters on every electrical box and in the streets where the restrictions are.I complained by phoning the responsible people at the Municipality. They referred me to the CEO, Mr Niilo Taapopi. He never comes back to me.Later on we have noticed that the City of Windhoek prepared in advance several square frames on lampposts in those streets where political parties were not allowed to display posters. These containers are now being use by the Swapo party to put up posters for the Presidential Election.I am convinced that neither Mr Taapopi nor any other official of the City of Windhoek will respond to this allegation because this is the truth. Namibia is already in the grip of a dictatorship because the ruling party is above the law. We are thus not better off than during the days of colonialism. It seems as if anything is acceptable. Bursaries for the already rich part of the ruling party are justified by long and costly explanations in the newspapers. The Namibian voters can think for themselves. Please vote for those parties who fight this type of corruption.Jurie ViljoenMAG
