No NDF streamlining

THE Ministry of Defence will not reduce the size of the Namibia Defence Force, Victor Simunja, the Deputy Defence Minister said yesterday.

He was replying to a question by DTA Vice-President Philemon Moongo in the National Assembly. Moongo alleged that the Ministry planned to reduce the current force of 15 000 members serving in the army, navy and air force.”I never sat in any meeting that decided to reduce the size of the NDF,” Simunja replied.”I also have no information about such a decision.This year the Ministry took in 400 army recruits, 200 for the navy and 200 for the air force.”Moongo alleged that the Ministry planned to reduce the current force of 15 000 members serving in the army, navy and air force.”I never sat in any meeting that decided to reduce the size of the NDF,” Simunja replied.”I also have no information about such a decision.This year the Ministry took in 400 army recruits, 200 for the navy and 200 for the air force.”
