THERE has been no change in Namibia’s ranking on the Fifa world rankings released yesterday.
Namibia still holds the 138th position, just as it did in the previous rankings published on January12.The country has, however, made some slight progress on the Confederation of Football Associations (Caf) rankings, moving from 37th position to 35th place on the continent.Namibia’s opponent in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, Burkina Faso, seemed to be making progress in the ranking as they moved from eighth position to fifth place on the Caf rankings.Burkina Faso is ranked 41st in the world, making a difference of 97 places between them and Namibia.Namibia and Burkina Faso will lock horns on March 26, but before that Namibia will play Malawi in an international friendly on February 9 here in Windhoek.Namibia need to win both these matches if they want to see positive changes on the Fifa rankings. -Nampa
