PREMIERSHIP football matches will continue this weekend after most teams were not in action at the weekend.
The only match that took place over the weekend saw African Stars taking on Eleven Arrows at the Independence Stadium, in what was an outstanding fixture between the two sides.
Yesterday, the NPL’s chief administrator, Tovey //Hoëbeb, cleared the confusion that the league will go into a break this coming weekend, saying that the break was actually last weekend where most teams did not play.
An earlier communication from the NPL suggested that the teams will go into recess after the Stars versus Arrows match.
‘We did not mean it that way. The break was for the teams which did not play at the weekend. That fixture was outstanding and had to be played for the two to catch up with the rest of the teams,’ said //Hoëbeb.
* For the coming weekend, table toppers African Stars will go into another tough encounter against Black Africa at the Independence Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Stars beat Arrows 2-0 to stay in command at the top on 31 points from 11 matches and coach Bobby Samaria knows that it will be another tough encounter, if they want to maintain their status.
On Friday night, Tigers will meet SKW. They are now coached by Page Ananias and Kumi Uumati after the recent firing of head coach Willem Kapukare.
Orlando Pirates take on Civics at the Independence Stadium on the same night.
On Saturday, Arrows will make yet another trip, this time to Otjiwarongo to meet the lowly-placed Mighty Gunners, while Ramblers host Hotspurs, also on Saturday.
Chief Santos go north to meet Oshakati City in the only fixture scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
