I WOULD appreciate it if you could publish this clarification on the report by Christof Maletsky in The Namibian of Thursday 3 June, under the heading “Farmers vow tooth and nail fight against expropriation”.
This article could be understood to mean that the Namibian Farmer’s Support Initiative (NFSI) is against expropriation of farms of white owners. This is not the case. The NFSI has emphasised that it is not against expropriation, but definitely against the way it is being done.Intended actions are aimed specifically to prevent or stem the economic, social and political destruction and destabilisation which expropriation with dubious intent will create. The NFSI, its members and supporters stand for a properly planned, transparent and practicable solution to the delicate issue of land reform and land distribution. It is our serious desire to ensure that those Namibians who are in need of land and economic development receive what they deserve. We will engage in positive and constructive actions to prevent degradation of our people and to alleviate proverty, ignorance and diseases.Land reform and land distribution only makes sense if the people supposed to benefit are accordingly and efficiently empowered to develop economically and are enabled to and equipped to make a decent living for themselves and their dependents off such land. The NFSI is convinced that the acquisition of suitable land for resettlement, including expropriation of white-owned farms can be facilitated and accelerated if the well-being of the concerned people is the aim and priority of Mr Pohamba and his President. As long as racism, personal political agendas and corruption are the underlying motives for land expropriation the NFSI will do it’s civic and democratic duty oppose and expose such actions.Sigi Eimbeck NFSIThis is not the case. As long as racism, personal political agendas and corruption are the underlying motives for land expropriation the NFSI will do it’s civic and democratic duty oppose and expose such actions.Sigi Eimbeck NFSI
