NFA And CBSA Reject Report

NFA And CBSA Reject Report

THE Namibia Football Association and the Collin Benjamin Soccer Academy wish to respond to a media report carried on the sports pages of The Namibian newspaper on October 11 2006, purporting that the Academy is threatening legal action against NFA for failing to pay over N$200 000 in gate takings from the Namibia versus South Africa match on 16 August 2006.

The Academy wishes to put on record that at no point did its Trustee agree for court action to be instituted against the NFA on the grounds of non-payment of gate takings that accrued from the international friendly soccer match. Recognising that the process of reconciling the gate takings and the tickets sold could have been resolved speedier, the two parties have nevertheless agreed to find an appropriate and convenient date and time suited to both parties at which this process can be finalised. At no point during our discussions did any party threaten the other with legal action. That assertion in the news article is therefore emphatically denied. In its article on the matter, The Namibian quotes an anonymous source as saying that the gate takings amount to close to N$200 000.We wonder how that figure was arrived at, since no reconciliations had taken place at the time the story was published. We therefore wish to state categorically that, as agreed between the two parties, the process of amicably resolving the matter started this week and time permitting, the exercise could be completed before the start of the next working week.We therefore reject as malicious, attempts by the anonymous source to drive a wedge between the NFA and the CBSA.Both parties are committed to cooperating in the interest of Namibian football and any problem that may arise from such commitment will be dealt with responsibly.A.Gawaseb, Secretary General : NFA D.N.//Hoabeb, Chairman: CBSARecognising that the process of reconciling the gate takings and the tickets sold could have been resolved speedier, the two parties have nevertheless agreed to find an appropriate and convenient date and time suited to both parties at which this process can be finalised. We therefore wish to state categorically that, as agreed between the two parties, the process of amicably resolving the matter started this week and time permitting, the exercise could be completed before the start of the next working week.We therefore reject as malicious, attempts by the anonymous source to drive a wedge between the NFA and the CBSA.Both parties are committed to cooperating in the interest of Namibian football and any problem that may arise from such commitment will be dealt with responsibly.A.Gawaseb, Secretary General : NFA D.N.//Hoabeb, Chairman: CBSA
