New director for Nepru

THE Namibian Economic Policy Research Unit (Nepru) is expected to announce the appointment of economics veteran Fanuel Tjingaete as its new director soon.

Tjingaete will take over from Klaus Schade, who has been acting as director of the independent think-tank.
Nepru’s new director needs no introduction.
As professor in economics, he lectured at the University of Namibia (Unam) from 1988 to 1991. During this time, he also acted as deputy dean of the faculty.
In 1991, Tjingaete joined CDM, nowadays Namdeb, as corporate affairs manager.
In 1993 he was appointed as Auditor General of Namibia for five years. He was re-appointed for another term in 1998 and stayed on as Auditor General until 2003.
Since then Tjingaete has been farming, before agreeing to return to the mainstream as the head of Nepru.
Tjingaete was not available for comment at the time of going to press.
