New cemetery ready soon

THE site for the new cemetery in Oshakati West is about to be completed, says Town Council spokesperson Anna Ingwafa.

All new burials will take place there and everyone can be buried there, regardless of their religion, she said.At the moment there are five ce-meteries in Oshakati – one for Roman Catholic Church members, one for ELCIN members, one for Anglican Church members, the Government cemetery and an old, abandoned one.Ingwafa said the Oshakati Town Council had decided to put a stop to uncontrolled burials that have led to the establishment of several unofficial graveyards at the town.She said the new cemetery, situated near Othingo village west of Oshakati, is big enough to cater for burials for years to come.Ingwafa said the Town Council will soon convene a meeting to discuss the future of the existing cemeteries.
