NAMIBIAN netball stars in the making Anna Kasper and Delia Keja have been summoned to take their place in the Singapore’s Netball Super League second phase.
The International Netball Federation’s African (IFNA) representative, Joan Smit, confirmed that a deal to have the pair play in the league has been reached. Smit said the players will take to the Southeast Asian courts from March 20 to April 13. ‘The invite from Singapore has been confirmed. We still just have to talk to the players and the parents to see if everyone is happy,’ Smit said. Smit also said Namibia has been invited to contest the Six Nations tournament for the third year running. Namibia finished fourth in last year’s tournament, ahead of Sri Lanka in fifth and last-placed Papua New Guinea. Fiji were first, followed by hosts Singapore in second and Malaysia in third. ‘Normally you are only invited for two times but the Netball Singapore were so impressed by the ethos Namibia has shown that they want us to play there for a third time,’ said Smit. ‘This is a clear indication that netball in Namibia is making strides. If you look at where we were a year or two ago and compare that to what is happening now, then you will see that there is progress.’
