THE Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) will hold a netball indaba on Saturday in Okahandja to elect an interim committee for the All Namibia Netball Association (ANNA).
NSC chief administrator Rusten Mogane, said the Minister of Sport Willem Konjore took this directive in accordance with the NSC Act.The NSC was instructed to organise the meeting, where an interim committee will be chosen to run ANNA until such time that fresh elections can be held to appoint the body s new executive committee.Mogane explained that there are numerous shortcomings in the ANNA constitution. Therefore, before embarking upon fresh elections, the current ANNA constitution must be amended. He further stated that the interim committee should ensure that the new ANNA constitution establishes proper regional structures, and that regional elections are conducted prior to elections for ANNA’s leadership. ‘Therefore, the NSC, in conjunction with the Directorate of Sports, will have the Netball Indaba to implement the directives of Sports Minister Konjore, and to discuss the way forward at the Andreas Kukuri Conference Centre,’ he noted. According to Mogane, the current executive committee members of ANNA will not stand for re-election. – Nampa
