Nedbank invests in critical SME sector

BY investing heavily in the small and medium enterprise sector, Nedbank recognises the critical role of this sector, said the bank’s manager at Keetmanshoop, Marlene Burger, at the opening of a workshop at the town on Monday.

Burger said Nedbank has earmarked N$275 000 for countrywide SME development programmes over the next two years.
The week-long SME training workshop at Keetmanshoop is funded by Nedbank, and forms part of the bank’s investment in the sector.
She said the SME sector in the country is critical in the advancement of the country’s future fortunes.
‘We believe that training is an integral part of ensuring success for up-and-coming entrepreneurs,’ she said.
According to Burger, the bank has already injected almost N$350 000 into SME development.
‘We have been extremely pleased with wonderful results achieved so far,’ she remarked.
She urged the 30 participants who are attending the workshop to grab the training opportunity to make a success of their enterprises.
‘Now, as you embark on an exciting new phase in growing your business, let me quote another of our famous slogans: ‘Go on. Make things happen’,’ said Burger.
Also speaking at the opening, Keetmanshoop Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Willie Kotze urged entrepreneurs to affiliate with the KCCI to enable them to address issues affecting them from a common ground.
