NCCI takes business to Angolan trade fair

THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) will today head an eleven-member local business delegation to the International Fair of Luanda (FILDA) trade fair, which starts on Monday and ends on July 18 in the Angolan capital.

The delegation is comprised of local businesses ranging from the tourism industry to transport and manufacturing. A major highlight of Namibia’s participation at this year’s fair is that Namibian business stands to benefit from extensive exposure through the hosting of Namibia Day in Luanda on July 15.The delegation will focus on attracting international businesses and exhibitors to the Namibian stands that showcase local products and services and allow it to especially market Namibian meat and tourism.According to the NCCI, Namibia Day will see a special address by Namibia’s Ambassador to Angola, Lineekela Mboti, and with Lazarus Ipangelwa, the new NCCI first vice-president who is also the Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank Namibia, present in support of the private sector.A major feature of the Namibian business community’s presence at this year’s fair is the strategic selection of some businesses from the Small to Medium Enterprises sector to participate in an attempt find additional ways of improving their business prospects.FILDA is the second largest international trade exhibition in Southern Africa after SIATEX in Johannesburg, South Africa. It offers international businesses the opportunity to display their products or services with the purpose of stimulating economic prosperity and promoting the commercial exchanges, know-how and joint ventures.”The positive response of the participation of local businesses is a resultant of the efforts initiated by the NCCI to vigorously mobilise and encourage the private sector to seize the potential offered by the Angolan market,” read a statement released by the organisation yesterday. The Ministry of Trade and Industry was also credited for being a supportive partner in realising this objective.Angola has been the focus of the NCCI’s primary markets for trade and investment promotion in its calendar of activities for this year.A major highlight of Namibia’s participation at this year’s fair is that Namibian business stands to benefit from extensive exposure through the hosting of Namibia Day in Luanda on July 15.The delegation will focus on attracting international businesses and exhibitors to the Namibian stands that showcase local products and services and allow it to especially market Namibian meat and tourism.According to the NCCI, Namibia Day will see a special address by Namibia’s Ambassador to Angola, Lineekela Mboti, and with Lazarus Ipangelwa, the new NCCI first vice-president who is also the Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank Namibia, present in support of the private sector.A major feature of the Namibian business community’s presence at this year’s fair is the strategic selection of some businesses from the Small to Medium Enterprises sector to participate in an attempt find additional ways of improving their business prospects.FILDA is the second largest international trade exhibition in Southern Africa after SIATEX in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Ministry of Trade and Industry was also credited for being a supportive partner in realising this objective.Angola has been the focus of the NCCI’s primary markets for trade and investment promotion in its calendar of activities for this year.
