THE Congress of Democrats on Friday delayed starting its most important gathering by at least 20 minutes as the party desperately waited in vain for the NBC to cover the opening session.
CoD National Chairperson Nora Schimming-Chase was the first to express disappointment that the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation was not present to report on the opposition party’s second national congress. She complained that the “Nujoma Broadcasting Corporation” covered the Swapo congress “24/7” but had failed to show up for the CoD gathering.CoD President Ben Ulenga said he refused to believe that the NBC was a Nujoma broadcasting station.Besides, said Ulenga, the NBC had forced him to pay his television licence. He decided not to deliver his opening address until the NBC had arrived. It was not to be, and, after dispensing with technical detail of starting the meeting, Ulenga officially made his keynote speech.
