WINDHOEK – The peaceful transfer of power from Founding President Sam Nujoma to President Hifikepunye Pohamba is a vivid indication that the country’s tree of democracy has grown deep roots, Pohamba said yesterday.
Pohamba, who addressed the 16th Independence Day celebrations in Windhoek, underlined the holding of regular, peaceful, free and fair elections in Namibia since Independence and said this signified and underscored the maturity of the democratic system and the growth of institutions.
