FOUR Namibian referees will attend a Fifa training course in Manzini, Swaziland, this week.
The four are part of the National Referees’ Committee (NRC) and will upgrade their skills at the Fifa Futuro3 Referees Instructors Course which begins today and ends on Friday. The Namibian delegation includes NRC chairperson Rudolph Shaya Mupiri, premiership referees Arvo Mufeti, Daniel Kamukwanyama and the experienced official Spike Nghidengwa.Mufeti and Kamukwanyama will attend the technical part of the course with Mupiri to be part of the head of referees section of the course, while Nghidengwa will be part of the fitness course. It is expected that Ngidengwa will, after the course, be able to assess local referees’ fitness as per the Fifa regulations.’This course is very important for us because it will instil some sense of new knowledge about the way forward as far as Fifa is concerned in officiating, and we the will have to plough back that knowledge so that as a country we align ourselves with the rest of the world in football matters,’ said Mupiri.The Futuro 3 Course in Swaziland is part of Fifa’s plan to ensure that match officials are well prepared for the implementation of the new referees’ regulations that take effect in April next year.
