Namib Swimming Academy introducers new head coach

THE Namib Swimming Academy yesterday announced they had added Ryan Skinner to to their staff roster in the position of head coach.

His appointment is seen as a long-term commitment to ensure continuity in elite coaching at NSA.Skinner is well known in the swimming fraternity of Namibia and South Africa – coaching amongst others 10 out of the 11 Namibian swimmers that competed at Senior African Swimming Championships since 2008.He also coached nine of the 11 Namibians who featured at the Fina World Championships since 2007 and seven out of the eight swimmers who competed at the Junior African Championships in Nigeria 2011.This team achieved overall third place.Skinner acted as Namibian national coach at numerous international events including 2007 All Africa games, Fina World Championships 2007 to 2012, Senior African Championships 2008 to 2012, Commonwealth Youth Games 2011 and Junior African Champs 2011.From January to April 2012, Skinner worked with South African head coach Graham Hill to prepare swimmers like Chad le Clos in the lead up to winning a historical London Olympic gold medal.Skinner’s swimmers broke 11 National records and won 21 of the 31 trophies awarded at the recent Namibian National Swimming Championships held in Windhoek.’Namib Swimming Academy looks forward to a long and successful working relationship with Ryan Skinner,’ the NSA said in a statement.
