Namcor gets new Managing Director

THE National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has appointed Sam Beukes as its new Managing Director.

The position became vacant following the death last June of Joe Mazeingo, who had served Namcor as the Managing Director for nine years. Speaking at the official announcement of his appointment, Beukes vowed to take Namcor’s national mandate a step up in sourcing petroleum products.According to him, Namcor has already embarked upon the process of sourcing petroleum products by itself from various sources by forging significant relationships with international suppliers. The 42-year-old new MD also intends to reinvest the company’s profits in human capital. He added that there is a need for the company to become an integrated oil company in order to ensure security and supply. This can be realised through exploring and producing oil and gas successfully, transporting oil and gas to markets, refining petroleum products, investing in storage and distribution infrastructure as well as making Namcor a recognisable brand in the marketplace. As a public institution, Beukes said is it important that Namcor supports the initiative around building Public Private Partnerships as well as the Black Economic Empowerment.”I must accept and acknowledge that Namcor is fairly unknown to the general public, since we are not running service stations and dealing with the public directly,” he added. He pledged to maintain an open-door policy as part of his agenda during his period in office.Beukes has been with Namcor for the past 15 years and served as Acting Managing Director after Mazeingo’s death.NampaSpeaking at the official announcement of his appointment, Beukes vowed to take Namcor’s national mandate a step up in sourcing petroleum products.According to him, Namcor has already embarked upon the process of sourcing petroleum products by itself from various sources by forging significant relationships with international suppliers. He pledged to maintain an open-door policy as part of his agenda during his period in office.Beukes has been with Namcor for the past 15 years and served as Acting Managing Director after Mazeingo’s death.Nampa
