THREE Namibian gymnasts who participated at the African Gymnastics Championships in Tunis, Tunisia, from April 9 to 15 did well against tough opposition.
Morihei Anderson, Samantha-Lee Gibbons and Dannii Biewenga participated in the junior sections of the Men and Women’s Artistic Competition. They competed against top gymnasts from South Africa, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Zimbabwe, and Morocco. Morihei Anderson placed tenth out of 23 gymnasts, Samantha-Lee Gibbons was eleventh out of 21 and Biewenga managed 15th position out of 21 competitors. Consequently, Anderson and Gibbons qualified to continue through to the apparatus finals. Anderson placed eighth in the vault and rings, while Gibbons placed was seventh on the floor and bars.’All three gymnasts gained valuable competition experience and are increasingly determined to achieve even better results at the next international meet,’ said Dongina Risser, their team manager.
