SOUTH African road construction and rehabilitation company Raubex has been awarded two contracts, worth a combined N$1 billion, by the Namibian Roads Authority for the rebuilding and tarring of two sections of road.
These sections stretched between Nkurenkuru and Elundu in the Kavango Region – a major artery for the transport of goods between Namibia and Angola.’The awarding of these contracts is very positive for Raubex and aligned with our long-term strategy to carefully expand our successful business model in the Southern African Development Community region beyond South Africa and Zambia,’ Raubex commercial and financial director Francois Diedrechsen said in a statement to shareholders.Work on the contracts would start in May and continue for about two years.Further, Diedrechsen stated that the company had the adequate mix of skills and experience to ‘tap into’ the growing African road construction market.'[We] will continue to position Raubex as a major player in geographies meeting our investment criteria,’ he added.- www.engineeringnews.co.za
