ALLOW me space in your respected daily newspaper to raise my opinions on the coming Sanlam NBC Music Awards.
In the past years I had concerns about the way artists are being voted by the public – the system of voting seems unfair because the organiser only focused on making money without practising fairness in selecting the most deserving artist to be honoured. I have read the page about nominations and it was said that you can vote as many times as you want.In this manner only artists who have money can win the awards and those who have less money cannot. For example, a friend of an artist can have N$10 000 cellphone credit and SMS a number of votes for that artist.I propose that they must implement a fair system were people can SMS only once per category [one cell number per category].The organiser must improve on this to make sure the election is fair, without promoting a dispute among the music fans or artists.Again I was concerned about the selection of artists that enter the categories. The categories are dominated by a certain artist while there are other good artists that deserve something. There must be a limit and sound tracks must be separated properly without mix. Please, Sanlam/NBC Awards must be fair for the good of our nation’s music.I would like to hear other opinions on this.Haimbodi Greson Via e-mailI have read the page about nominations and it was said that you can vote as many times as you want.In this manner only artists who have money can win the awards and those who have less money cannot. Please, Sanlam/NBC Awards must be fair for the good of our nation’s music.I would like to hear other opinions on this.Haimbodi Greson Via e-mail
