AN autopsy report of Uhlenhorst farmer Isak Dreyer (85), whose body was found tied and gagged in his bedroom at his farm Newlands, has revealed that he had died of suffocation.
Newlands is located in the Uhlenhorst-Hoachanas-Derm triangle between Rehoboth and Dordabis. The report further revealed a dislocated jaw and eight fractured ribs, Police Commissioner Kobus Meyer reported yesterday. Meyer said detectives have been sent to Newlands and surrounding areas to continue with the investigation. Dreyer is suspected to have died on Thursday evening after a gang of five thugs forced entry into his farmhouse, assaulted, gagged and tied him before looting a safe. The robbers drove off with Dreyer’s bakkie. At the main farm entrance about 35 kilometres from the farmstead, the suspects forced open the safe, abandoned Dreyer’s vehicle and made off in a getaway vehicle. The robbers only stole a .38 revolver and a teargas pistol and left behind three rifles that were also locked in the safe. The Uhlenhorst Farmers’ Association has offered a N$50 000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
